Resources for supporting the LGBTQAI+ community after an act of violence

Just before midnight on November 19th, 2022, police in Colorado Springs Colorado were alerted to a shooting at Club Q, a gay nightclub in the city. At least five people have been killed as of this writing, and many more injured. The shooting is being investigated as a hate crime, and Club Q had been planning to have a drag story hour on November 20th.

In the midst of rising violence against queer people in the form of legislation, direct acts of aggression and hate, and attempts to eliminate access to medical care, therapists have the unique opportunity to create space for clients who are struggling to feel safe. Below are resources to support providers in doing this important work.
